SNOW MAKING

Since Ski Magic’s purchase of the mountain in 2016,  Magic has continually invested in new snowmaking infrastructure. Currently our snowmaking system covers 50% of our trails, including the West Side, to insure quality skiing even when New England weather doesn’t always cooperate.

LIFTS

Magic has dramtically expanded its lift capacity since 2016 with now 5 total lifts to insure minimal to no lift lines even on our busiest days. All lifts are centrally located at the base area for easy access from the lodge. 2 of them are one-mile long fixed-grip chairlifts that service the upper mountain. The iconic Red Chair (2 person) and new, as ofr 22/23 season Black Line Quad Chair (4 person) service the top of the mountain from the base area. The Green Chair (2 person) services the easier mid-mountain. Because these chairs are fixed grip, they are rarely on wind hold and evenly space skier traffic out on the mountain for less trail crowding. At the bottom of the mountain there is also 1 600′ handle tow that services our terain park and one Sunkids conveyor “Magic Carpet” lift for beginners in our Nelson Family Learning Area.

TRAILS

When it comes to steeps, Magic has them. 26% of terrain is true expert only, most difficult trails/glades. That doesn’t mean we don’t have plenty of terrain for any type of skier or rider though. 24% of terrain is rated easiest, 32% more difficult and 18% is advanced. All our trails have a classic Vermont feel to them, designed back in the 1960s, that excites at every turn. There are over 11 glades on the map (more that have been kept secret) and they vary from expert to intermediate level tree-skiing. (Always ski in glades with a partner!)

GROOMING

While we love our powder days and natural snow conditions, Magic has two groomers (Prinoth) to provide some of the best and longest-lasting machine groomed conditions in the East on a variety of trails, especially on much of the less difficult East Side. If you look up at the mountain at night you’ll see these cats in action. Our lead groomer, “Brownie”, has been known to lay down some of the sweetest cord in the state of Vermont, and Kyle is an expert at grooming the steepest trails in southern Vermont!
