THE ALPINE UPDATE

Snowmaking on Wizard!

January 16th

The crew has overcome a few challenges to get us skiing off the West Side this weekend.

Greetings from Londonderry!

The MLK Holiday weekend is here and isn't it great we all have this oasis from overcrowding which has become the norm for these type of weekends in the ski industry? Not to say there won't be a lot of skiers and riders at Magic, just that with all our lifts going, you can just relax, not wait long, and enjoy the skiing.

Importantly, the snowmaking team is finishing up by Friday Night snowmaking on 1.6 miles of Upper and Lower Wizard to access the West Side! They had to overcome some frozen pipes out there early last weekend with the extreme cold, which delayed them a bit. But they have been cranking away this week and covered a lot of terrain there. It should be groomed out and ready-to-go for Saturday. Then their plan is to move on to Sorcerer early next week for a quick hit followed by Talisman which will take 3 full-on days to cover.

.
The weather this weekend is going to be very comfortable in the upper 20s/low 30s, with chances for  a little snow on Saturday and then a bit more late Sunday into Monday. You can always get the latest with our Ski Report

Magic has a special MLK Holiday 3-Day ticket special with Monday the 20th at 50% off--even with the new snow expected Sunday night! So spend the the 3-Day weekend with Magic to save, even on a holiday. Purchase this special 3-Day ticket deal here.

The MLK holiday is a good time to expand our circles of friendship and community, and we hope you find the Black Line Tavern a fun, welcoming place for all to do that. We will also be welcoming folks back to the T-BAR this weekend at the base of Show Off for relaxed vibes with food, drink and firepit from 11-4p.

The BLT has SINGO on Friday night (music bingo) at 7pm. And then we have a tripleheader of good music over the weekend. Our own Pati Mac plays the après ski party from 3-6pm on Saturday. Then the Keep On Growing Band is up from New Jersey playing songs inspired by Dylan, Petty, Allman Brothers, The Band, Jerry Garcia, Stevie Wonder, Tedeschi Trucks, Warren Hayes, Clapton and more from 7-10p. MLK Sunday we have a special show from Après through Dinner time (3-7p) with Shermtone and The Bonfire on the BLT stage. So stick around, meet new people and enjoy all 3-days of MLK!

___________

Hopefully, we will "ski you here" at Magic, where we are keeping the original spirit of skiing alive and well. And, we appreciate so many of you bringing new people with you every week to experience something different here. More bonds created. More people getting to know new people. We do think our terrain is a difference maker here...and it is. But, truly, it's the people here that make the difference.

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr weekend as we all celebrate and welcome our differences together as a community while reaching out to new people in the spirit of camaraderie.

Keeping the soul in skiing,
Geoff
