Alpine Update
Record Season
April 30, 2025
Check out our just released new video here!
Greetings from Londonderry,
April 30th is the end of Magic's fiscal business year, and I wanted to give our community an update on where we stand as a 100% independently owned and operated ski area.
Why? Because all of you coming here are an integral part of our success and future. And, the feedback you provide us via our weekly surveys after a visit and the conversations you have with me and other Magic staff help shape what we do to continue on the vast improvements already made to key areas like lifts, snowmaking, food & beverage, lodge services, operations and events/weddings.
Here's a brief recap of the season:
- Skier visits to Magic up +26% vs prior year
- Paid ticketed visits (includes Indy pass visits) hit a new record, up +36%
- Season pass holder visits up +11%
All those increased visits to Magic led to a record revenue year even though it was a pretty average snow year here of around 128" (126" is the average snowfall over the past 9 seasons). But with more snowmaking and colder temperatures this past season, conditions on the mountain were consistently strong from start to finish.
The good news continues this month with season pass sales up +34% versus last year in a very competitive marketplace. The more people who call Magic home, the more we can invest back into the mountain in the future. It's one of the reasons we've decided to hold pass pricing at 2023 levels despite ever increasing operational business costs for electricity (snowmaking and lifts), fuel, insurance, food, and competitive pay for our hardworking local staff.
Our fantastic skiers and riders are why we do this and it's because of you that Magic is still here since we purchased and rescued the mountain in November 2016. Even as we grow, we will continue delivering a ski experience that is a true difference maker--putting our skiers and riders first by freeing us all from the never ending crowds, the hustle-bustle and stress, and the high prices for everything (even parking). We want Magic to be a refreshing oasis for you.
